What we believe.

We are united in our belief that God became one of us in the person of Jesus Christ, that the Bible is the measure and teacher of the faith and it is there we learn that Jesus was crucified and rose again to bring us forgiveness and new life.

We are convinced that this is the great news for everyone and we encourage each other to read the Bible (God’s clear and present word to us) in groups and individually.

We also believe that God’s love compels us to share this great news with others through both word and deed.

These are the essential values that shape the way we do church together at Frenchs Forest.

God’s Word

We affirm the authority of Scripture, confident it reveals everything we need to know about God, salvation and how we are to live. We apply this through a commitment to clear Bible teaching in our weekly gatherings and through regular Bible study in small groups. (2 Tim 3:16; Luke 24:27; Gal 1:8; Eph 1:10)

Prayer

We are committed to prayer as a vital aspect of our lives. We pray for ourselves and for all people, with thanksgiving, recognising God as the one who transforms, heals, restores and forgives. (Mat 6:9-14; Phil 4:6; Col 4:2; Eph 6:18; Rom 9:26; 1 Jn 5:14-15)

Loving one another

We aim to build a caring Christian community with a commitment to seek the good of one another and the wider community. We are committed to the ongoing care and support of every individual, loving one another as we are loved by God. Our aim is to care for and share with those in need, in practical and loving ways whether locally or abroad. (1 Jn 4:7-12; Rom 12:1-2; James 2:14-17; Heb 10:24-25;12:1-3)

Evangelism

We want to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the whole community. We all have a role to play in this, either through organised events or individually through the witness of our continually transformed lives in Christ. We will also practically and prayerfully support ministry and mission throughout Australia and overseas. (Matt 28:16-20; Luke 15; Rom 5:8; 1 Cor 9:19-23 1 Pet 3:15-16)

Spiritual Growth

We seek to constantly strengthen and deepen our relationship with Jesus. Wewant to be transformed by His Spirit so to be more like Jesus. Through a devotion to God’s word, we will ‘spur one another on towards love and good deeds’. (Rom 12:2; Eph 4:11-161 Pet 2:1-3, 2 Pet 3:17-18, Heb 5:11-14,10:24-25)

Shared Servant Ministry

With Christ as our model of leadership we pursue ministry together and affirm all areas of service. God has by his Holy Spirit, richly equipped His church for building up all members of the body into the unity of the faith and knowledge of His Son. We affirm that every member has a part to play. Therefore, we will train and equip those in ministry, enabling us all to please God and to love those whom we serve. (1 Cor 12:4-7, 12:14-26, Rom 12:3-8, Eph 4:11-12; 1 Tim 4:13-14; Heb 13:17; Titus 2; Col 3:23; John 10:15)
