Twenty minutes outside of Tokyo in Shin-Urayasu, Karen Darda works with Mission to the World (MTW). Until the earthquake in 2011, the planned town of Shin-Urayasu was seen as one of the most attractive places to live in Japan. People are wealthy, well educated and ambitious, both for themselves and for their children. Through her work with MTW, Karen is witnessing people reading the Bible for the first time and seeing God draw many to himself. Locals are beginning to see the church where Karen works as part of the community, with an important role to play.
Karen is helping to plant a church in Shin-Urayasu. Through evangelistic Bible studies and other evangelistic activities with women and children, she seeks to connect with her local community and share the gospel.
Karen is a missionary with CMS.
